Looking4Cache gets a major update

Finally! After nearly a half year of coding and testing the generally recondition and extended version 2.0 of L4C goes live.

In this version I spend a lot of attention on the usability but also done some functions requested frequent since a long time. I hope you will like it.

When starting the new version the first time you will see a welcome screen containing a video. If you installed a update you will see the “Whats new” video. In terms of usability I also created a “First steps” video for fresh installs.

Here you can see them too:
Video – First Steps (en)
Video – Whats new in V2.0 (en)

Have a lot of fun when caching with the new version and hopefully not to much trouble with the sure existing bugs 😉

    Hi,

I installed the new version and I have some feedback (they are not bugs, just some small graphical “problems”):
    1. from main screen go to “Search for cache” and scroll down to the bottom. The content goes almost of the screen (contentSize is too big?)
    2. from main screen go to “Manage lists” -> “Load from the internet”. There is an empty space before the lists.

And a question: Is it possible to delete downloaded images?
I tried to delete all lists, but the app still occupied over 3 GB, so I think the images were not deleted. (I tried it with the old version, not with this new one.)

    Thanks for the new version,
    kukukk

      Hi,

that there is free space under the search for cache screen is a needed workaround. The tweak I use to hide and show cells is the source. If I don´t add this space, the content can´t scroll if the keyboard appears after activating some filters.

The free space in the list selection I just removed, thanks.

To delete obsolete images just use the function “Maintain Database” in the configuration. It searchs for caches that are not longer contained in a cache list and delete them and their images.

Also zunächst mal: Ganz große klasse!

Was tun? Bzw. eine der ersten Ideen zur Verbesserung… 😉

    Nochmals Danke und Grüße
    Tom

      Nachtrag:

    Hi,

    Another observation:
Sometimes, when search for caches, the bottom toolbar with “Caches”, “Map” and “Tools” disappears. Even if I load a new list, it doesn’t reappear. I have to go back to “Search” screen and press “Cancel”.

While I was trying to reproduce this behaviour, I think I identified the source of the problem. I’m using the free version, which has ads. And this happens when I start a search immediately after launching the application. When launching the app, the ads are not yet displayed. It appears a bit later and covers the toolbar while it is still searching.

    Hope this helps

      Hi,

the last days I already searched when this happens. Thanks for pointing out that it comes when the search view was opened before the ads appears.

I just fixed it in the code. Unfortunately the bugfix-version for 2.0 is already in review by Apple. So the fix will came after I upload the next version to Apple.

      Best,
      Thorsten

Hi I’ve been using for a while now , and like the way the app works but ever since I updated the adds keep cover the map button, I understand that you need the adds and if I pay the will not be included but it is stopping me from actually geocaching as I can’t get the map up. It would be great if you can fix this extremely fast as I miss geocaching and are missing heap from where I am at this exact moment, even worse knowing they are near but not being able to do them 🙁

      Hi,

that the ad covers the tab bar is a error an will be fixed in the next version. It happens when you switch to the search or config area before the first ad appears.

If the tab bar is hidden you can also switch from caches view to the search and cancel the search. Then the ad and tab bar will ordered correctly.

      Best, Thorsten
